To Be Vulnerable
Learn HOW to transform, perform and hit your exciting goals at work and outside
PRINCIPLE OF THE WEEK
High performance and transformation always bring a risk of judgment, criticism and loss.
This is vulnerability.
Being comfortable in vulnerability is a skill learned by all high performers and transformers.
YOUR DECISION
When you decide to risk your reputation, your time, your effort, your cash to create a change or deliver an ambitious life goal, you become VULNERABLE. Vulnerable to judgement, ridicule and loss.
But you inhabit a body that has evolved to avoid loss. Your emotions are all designed to drive your behaviour towards safety.
Your emotions will work to prevent you risking loss FASTER than your conscious brain will work to chase your ambitions, your purpose and your gains.
Vulnerability will bring a feeling of anxiety (an entirely healthy emotional response in 99.9% of occurrences). Your Tiger will ROAR. And you should pay attention to that warning and DECIDE carefully on your next ACTION.
Most people will act to back away without conscious decision making. They will then blame external forces. Most people will happily give away their power to create, to live fully, in order to avoid being vulnerable.
What will you DECIDE to do?
YOUR ACTION
JOURNAL OR QUIET REFLECTION
Think of a thing you are proud of delivering. Were you exposed and vulnerable? What was your potential loss, the risk? How did it feel when you accepted the risk of that loss?
How did it feel when you delivered the thing? How did accepting the vulnerability and delivering the thing impact your life and the lives of others?
What is the thing you want to be proud of delivering next?
What is the vulnerability that must be accepted to deliver it?
Is the risk acceptable?
What will YOU do?
YOUR RESULT
Have you used DARE or Taming Tigers to make breakthroughs and create new results for yourself?
